Outpatient Mental Health Counselor-LPC/LCSW REQUIRED-Killeen/Temple, TX

Cenikor Foundation is a non-profit organization and one of the largest substance abuse treatment centers in the nation. We are currently seeking an Outpatient Mental Health Counselor for two of our outpatient locations in Killeen and Temple Texas. Clinical Licensure required: LCSW or LPC.

JOB SUMMARY:

The part-time Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing counseling and support services to individuals experiencing mental health and substance abuse issues. Works to promote optimum mental and emotional health. Develops and maintains referral sources for mental health clients. Counseling will be provided at both our Killeen and Temple locations. Some evenings required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide mental health and/or substance abuse counseling and support to individuals, families and groups in the community.
  2. Assess and diagnose clients’ mental status through interviews and observations, and develop and implement an individualized treatment plan based on comprehensive assessment. Update and document treatment plan in Welligent and CMBHS.
  3. Provide individual, group and family counseling groups as requested.
  4. Work in conjunction with all facility staff to facilitate a safe environment for client recovery.
  5. Contribute to client care by participating in clinical staff meetings to review client progress and treatment plans, and report caseload activities to supervisor.
  6. Ensure documentation is entered into the electronic health record and deadlines for completion are met consistently.
  7. Communicate with Senior Manager any issues relating to client complaints and/or other concerns.
  8. Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and foundation matters and refer questionable issues to your supervisor.
  9. Complete any reports accurately and submit per schedule.
  10. Uphold the core principles of Cenikor’s culture and create a positive working environment for all team members.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Possesses strong clinical documentation skills.
  • Experienced in diagnosis and treatment of mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Experienced and capable of identifying appropriate resources for client development and providing substance abuse counseling.
  • Capable of discerning facts from opinions and remaining objective when listening to conflicting opinions.
  • Experienced in working with diverse population.
  • Possesses good time management skills needed to meet aggressive deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software required, including MS Outlook calendar.

Education:

  • Master’s degree required

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of mental health and/or substance abuse treatment experience required
  • Knowledge/experience with dual diagnosis clients preferred
  • Experience with CMBHS or other electronic health record system preferred.
  • Willingness to work evenings

Licensure Required:

  • LCSW or LPC required
