Data Analyst - Houston, TX

The Data Analyst will assume a role in re-engineering efforts of the foundation regarding the measurement and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the behavioral health and substance abuse industry. The Data Analyst will be instrumental in providing accurate and relevant data to support strategic decisions foundation wide and internal business objectives. The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing strategies and reporting metrics related to the measurements of performance for a variety of functions within the foundation. This position will assist in the analysis and implementation of strategic planning and development pro-grams currently existing or that may be created for the foundation; this includes conducting problem analysis and recommending solutions.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs measurement and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the be-havioral health and substance abuse industry and internal business objectives.
  2. Present performance indicator reports and benchmark narratives to clinical departments.
  3. Maintains initial data, solves data integrity issues as they arise, and oversees the addition of new data to analytics and reporting systems.
  4. Create customized reports using data requested by Executive Leadership Committee and conducts ad hoc analy-sis when needed.
  5. Develops and manages analysis of facility funding sources:
  6. a. Gathering of historical funding data.
  7. b. Development and maintenance of monthly benchmark and performance reports.
  8. Engages department leaders in the analysis of counselor productivity:
  9. a. Monitoring reports and determining data submission criteria.
  10. b. Matching productivity against revenue and expense benchmarks.
  11. Advises senior management based on clinical productivity data.
  12. Analyzes revenue by:
  13. a. Tracking revenue trends.
  14. b. Tracking coding, collection rates, denial rates, etc., through electronic health record and accounting system
  15. c. Communicating reports/findings to executive leadership, clinical departments and senior management.
  16. Performs due diligence of incentive plan submissions.
  17. Develops technology plans and strategies related to the ongoing performance measurement functions of decision support and accounting.
  18. Conducts the design, construction, upgrading and maintenance of business systems used by the foundation deci-sion support team for the presentation of business metrics including needs analysis and communicating with other departments.
  19. Cross-trains on all functions related to the development, update and maintenance of the decision support data-bases. This includes ongoing collaboration with accounting in all matters related to the documentation of founda-tion financials.
  20. Evaluates alternative software purchases and act as a liaison with vendors of specialized business intelligence or database products, geographic information systems and data mining software.
  21. Assists in the analysis and implementation of strategic planning and development programs currently existing or as may be created for the foundation. Conducts problem analysis and recommends solutions.
  22. Identifies, coordinates, collects and ensures the availability of data related to health care institutions and health care utilization within the behavioral health and substance abuse markets. This will include data related to patient demographics, utilization, physician and hospital service and locations as well as general behavioral health news and data accessible to the public or available by contract, for the benefit of the foundation.
  23. Assists in the preparation and distribution of regular reports from internal and external data sources used for planning by Executive Leadership and other personal and administrative staff within the foundation.
  24. Uphold the core principles of Cenikor’s culture and create a positive working environment for all team members.
  25. Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and Foundation matters, referring questionable issues or activities to the Vice President/CFO.
  26. Perform additional duties as assigned and consistent with the exempt functions as defined in this job description.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

Skills,Knowledge and Abilities:

  •  Knowledge of business statistics, quantitative methods, performance analysis, and development of business performance dashboards, scorecards and KPI's.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate well with others.
  • Ability to implement quality management concepts into practice.
  • Proficiency in MSoffice and relational databases.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the Business Analytics field preferred.

Experience:

  •  Minimum of 3 years data manipulation and analysis experience required.
  •  Knowledge of data manipulation and analysis in the healthcare industry preferred.
